Designer Bikinis In A Click

We are now officially half way through April, and with all the long weekends coming up, as well as summer months just around the corner, it is safe to say that bikini season is here.

The holiday and beach wardrobe is not one to dismiss when it comes to updating it with fresh pieces per trip and season - you definitely don't want to end up that chick by the pool wearing a tankini from her junior-high years! And for those of us who love designer fashion, but don't always have the funds to invest in new seasonal runway pieces, swimwear is a great way to get your hands on your favourite designer labels for no more than a couple hundred dollars.

Behold my latest discovery, the Net-a-Porter of swimwear - Clickini.com!

Clickini is home to a wide-range of mega chic designer beach wear, with a strong focus on the bikini. Labels sold include: Norma Kamali, Lisa Marie Fernandez, Chloe, Jil Sander, Melissa Odabash, Heidi Klein, Bronzette (a favourite of Carine Roitfeld) and many more.

Shopping for a new bikini so early in the season can be quite stressful, especially when your body isn't exactly in tip-top bikini-ready shape. Put your hands up if you've endured the stressful, time-consuming and often humiliating experience of shopping for new swim gear in a shop with bad lighting, bad mirrors and a an annoying sales girl coaxing you out of your change room. My hand is most certainly up.

Well, the nightmare is over - I clicked my way through all of their styles from the comfort of my own computer (while fully dressed) and tried on everything in the privacy of my own home. I settled on the amazing limited edition Jil Sander bikini above, which came exquisitely wrapped in their eco-friendly recycled packaging, and sent what didn't work back the next day. Easy peasy!

My next holiday trips are booked and i'm heading to Amsterdam and Florence in one week. Perhaps not the most tropical of destinations, but at least I'll look chic tanning in my garden when I get back and the temperature has gone up!

Happy Ho Ho!

Hope that all of my lovely London Snog readers had an amazing Christmas this year! So what did y'all get!? Please share!

As my brother doesn't get home from Germany until the 1st of January, my family has put our Xmas on hold until the 2nd. Yesterday, I suggested that I could just open up all my gifts and then re-wrap them on the 2nd, but my mum said 'NO. And I'm pretty sure you also came up with that idea when you were five.' hmph! Luckily I have a boyfriend that understands that I love gifts and don't like to wait to get them - so here's a picture of what he got me: a gorgeous brass nail cuff from Giles & Brother and the lasso love ring from Zoe & Morgan. J'adore!

New Blog Announcement

I've got a brand new blog! Joli Lapin was created over the summer with the initial intention to become an online vintage store. However, as new job opportunities came about and my schedule became obscenely busy - Joli Lapin had to take a back seat.

Now the blog has officially been re-launched and is on the go, but instead of selling off vintage pieces, the purpose of my new blog is to share my amazing charity shop finds, and recipes of the delicious meals I make with my readers.

London Snog will remain my number one, fashion-focused blog while Joli Lapin will focus more on my home life and the happy little things that surround me.

Please read with love and care by clicking HERE. Enjoy! x

Valley of The Dolls

Jamie Nelson's El-Mehico work reminded me of my Valley of The Dolls shoot from a couple of years ago. This was a project for my Art Direction class at Ryerson in third year. While I can take credit for the photography, styling and (of course) art direction, I owe the incredible make up work to my dear friend Em. Em and I both up and moved to London within a couple months of each other last year, and are hoping to collaborate on a creative here some time soon. In the mean time, if anyone is in need of a fantabulous makeup artist...holla at meee (and I will put you in touch with Em. Trust me, you don't want me to do anyone's makeup, I can hardly do my own properly). xx

Bananarama

Our flat mates donated a few (very) ripe bananas to us the other night so I decided to whip up some banana bread! I haven't baked banana bread in years but the recipe I put together was so quick and easy I thought I should share it with everyone.

3 rip bananas, smashed.
1/3 cup melted butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
pinch of salt
1 1/2 cups of spelt or brown all purpose flower

The original recipe called for a full cup of sugar but I cut that down to half and replaced it with more vanilla and cinnamon (use 1 tsp to start but add more to suit your taste), you can also try adding raisins, walnuts or chocolate chips!

Preheat the oven to 350F

With a wooden spoon, mix the butter into the mashed bananas in a large mixing bowl. Mix in the sugar, egg and vanilla then sprinkle in the baking soda, salt and cinnamon and mix fully. Add in the flower last then pour into a 4-8 loaf pan and bake for approx 45 mins.

Crafts Day

My girl BK and I were finally able to fulfill our dreams of having a crafts day of fun together on Friday. We ended up creating the most amazing one-shoulder fringed necklaces with sculptural shoulder pieces made out of colourful zippers. The results are extremely avant-garde and we will soon be moving on to bracelets, head pieces, clutches and more! I love craft day!
